"When I found out that Fernand Léger had created some stained glass windows for the Courfaivre church in the Jura, I could hardly believe it! My teacher at secondary school never stopped talking about this outstanding artist and we had even gone to Basle to see his works. Now I found his name associated with a small village that I had never heard of before going there - and of course I had to go and see. I was impressed by the size and purity of the building and the peaceful silence of the place. My mind was carried away by the interplay of light, shade and colours caused by the sun. The experience made me want to visit the other churches in the Jura with their modern stained glass windows. My next stop will be the church in Soubey."

There would be nothing unusual about the existence of modern stained glass windows in the Jura if there were only a few here and there. But these shimmering coloured windows have spread to the most remote valleys and villages. Jura Tourism has created a special website to showcase the stained glass windows of more than 40 chapels and churches in the Jura.
