"It was a really snowy winter that year! We had already tried snowshoes several times and, that Sunday in January, we opted for a walk on foot. Why not try the suggested route at the end of Les Bois? The path was wide-open all the way to Maison-Rouge. We were pleased to say hello to the donkeys, ponies and other horses, all enjoying a peaceful retirement at the Foundation for the Horse. Then we headed down alongside the small hamlet of Les Prailats. The path is a little shaded, particularly at the beginning. We moved quickly to get back into the sunshine and drink a nice cup of hot chocolate at Le Boéchet before catching the train back to Les Bois. All in all, winter is a charming season, even on foot."

There are just under one hundred kilometres of prepared routes on offer to hikers and horse riders in winter. These routes starting from the main towns of the Franches-Montagnes allow you to walk or ride without spoiling the cross-country skiing pistes. There is no leaflet at the moment, but maps of each route can be downloaded.
